  • Italian ferry operator launches ‘Motorway of the Sea’ service between Italy & Greece

Italian shipping company Grimaldi has launched a new direct service between the ports of Ravenna, Igoumenitsa and Patras to further strengthen its presence on Adriactic routes between Italy and Greece.

The new string, which began last week, will be used for the movement of ro-ro traffic and passengers. The ferry operator has deployed the Euroferry Olympia, a 200 trailer and 600 passenger capacity ro-pax ferry, on the new route, which will operate as a bi-weekly service.

The new motorway of the sea will have a bi-weekly frequency departing from the Italian Port of Ravenna on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The new maritime link will be added to those already offered by the Grimaldi Group between Italy and Greece, through the Grimaldi Lines and Minoan Lines brands.

Grimaldi Lines currently offers daily departures between Brindisi, Igoumenitsa and Patras for the transport of goods and passengers as well as a weekly departure from Genoa, Livorno, Catania to Patras for rolling cargo only.
