Kalmar unveils electric TT7 for European terminals

Kalmar has introduced the fully electric version of its TT7 terminal tractor, the TT7 EV, targeting growing demand for zero-emission cargo handling equipment across European ports, terminals and logistics operations.

The new model joins the recently launched TT7 series and is designed for shunting operations in container terminals, yards and distribution facilities.

Sales of the terminal tractor are set to begin during TOC Europe, taking place in Hamburg from 19–21 May 2026.

The TT7 EV features the redesigned TT7 chassis, developed following customer feedback focused on durability and maintenance efficiency.

The unit incorporates a galvanised steel frame and reinforced axles intended to support heavy-duty terminal operations.

Among the key design features is an extended front windscreen combined with large rear windows and convex side mirrors to improve operator visibility and safety during yard movements.

The terminal tractor is also equipped with hardware and software compatible with MyKalmar INSIGHT, enabling operators to monitor battery condition and performance data to support fleet efficiency and maintenance planning.

Kalmar stated that the electric drivetrain reduces the number of serviceable mechanical components, while the front bumper has been redesigned into three sections to simplify repairs and lower maintenance complexity.

Cabin upgrades include revised suspension, climate control and updated ergonomic features aimed at improving driver comfort during extended operations.

The launch forms part of wider electrification efforts across the port equipment sector as terminal operators continue investing in lower-emission cargo handling fleets to meet sustainability targets and tightening environmental regulations.
