Générale de Manutention Portuaire (GMP) has announced it is expanding its fleet of straddle carriers with 26 new hybrid models, ordered from Kalmar.
GMP has also just taken delivery of the first series of 13 units.
Delivered to the Terminal de l’Europe in Le Havre on 6 April by Kalmar, these vehicles are contributing to the company’s low-carbon strategy, while improving the flow and safety of goods through its terminals.

Equipped with a 100 per cent hybrid engine, these straddle carriers aim to reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, while improving driver safety and comfort.
Its redesigned cabs and reduced noise levels contribute to optimised working conditions.
This €45 million ($49.7 million) investment, which follows the delivery of 12 units in 2023, is part of GMP’s overall green transition strategy.
Eventually, at a total cost of €65 million ($71.8 million), the company will have a fleet of 2/3-motor vehicles powered by 100 per cent hybrids, boosting both its productivity and its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.
Last November, Qair, a renewable energy company, secured a parcel at HAROPA Port in Le Havre, France, to develop its e-methanol production project, Methavert.
