Globe Tracker, a company in Internet of Things (IoT) tracking and monitoring solutions for logistics assets, has deployed IoT devices installed on reefer containers to maritime services provider, Maritima Alisea.
Maritima Alisea offers services between the Spanish peninsula to the Canary Archipelago, with seven offices in Spain.
The move reinforces a market trend for many maritime shipping companies to implement new technologies as the industry heads towards further automation and digitalisation, according to Globe Tracker.
Perishables are reportedly the perfect application for this remote monitoring technology.
According to Globe Tracker, perishables not only provide constant streamlined visibility for the shipments, but they can also improve compliance, food safety, and creates a platform for future advances in food transportation.
