Pilbara Ports handled a record 804.1 million tonnes of exports and imports in the 2025-26 financial year, surpassing the previous record of 775.7 million tonnes set in 2024-25.
This is the largest year-on-year (YoY) increase in the organisation’s annual trade since 2017-18. The result represents an estimated $150 billion in export value.
The Port of Port Hedland again drove the bulk of the throughput, recording 580.4 million tonnes for the year, while the Port of Dampier handled 178.3 million tonnes and the Port of Ashburton contributed 45.2 million tonnes.
Iron ore exports across all ports rose 4 per cent to 759.4 million tonnes, while LNG throughput reached 26 million tonnes and salt throughput totalled 5.3 million tonnes.
Samuel McSkimming, Chief Executive Officer of Pilbara Ports, said: “Moving more than 800 million tonnes safely through our ports is a significant achievement. Safety performance also improved, with Pilbara Ports recording 9,499 safe vessel visits during the year, a 9 per cent increase on the previous financial year and an average of 26 visits per day.
McSkimming added: “Every safe vessel visit to one of our ports helps maintain global confidence in our supply chains and ensures customers can continue to access the resources they depend on.”
Pilbara Ports also invested more than $1.17 million across 76 local community organisations in the Pilbara during the year, supporting projects focused on wellbeing, education, safety and regional development.
