Misurata Free Zone (MFZ) has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo, the international arm of the Italian employers’ federation, and the Libyan Italian Chamber of Commerce.
The agreements aim to expand MFZ’s international partnership network and strengthen economic and investment cooperation between Libya and Italy.
The agreements set out a framework for collaboration across investment, trade, logistics, ports and industry, and are intended to attract Italian investment to Misurata Free Zone, facilitate joint business ventures, and promote the exchange of market intelligence, expertise and investment information.
Under the MoUs, the parties will jointly organise business forums, trade missions, B2B meetings and specialised workshops, while stepping up institutional promotion efforts to open new opportunities for strategic partnerships between the Libyan and Italian business communities.

For port and logistics stakeholders, the agreements are notable for their emphasis on leveraging Misurata Free Zone’s strategic location as a gateway to African markets, positioning the zone as a potential node for cargo and investment flows between Europe and Africa.
The MoUs represent one of the key outcomes of MFZ’s investment promotion roadshow held in Rome, reinforcing the Free Zone’s strategy to expand its global partnerships and consolidate its position as a logistics and investment hub connecting the two continents.
Through the partnerships, MFZ aims to attract high-quality investment, facilitate trade, and support sustainable economic growth between Libya and Italy, with logistics and port infrastructure development likely to feature among the sectors targeted for Italian investment as the agreements are implemented.
