APM Terminals (APMT) Gothenburg is set to handle three weekly mainliner calls to and from Asia for the first time.
This will increase the consistency and volume of goods movement between Sweden and major Asian ports.
The development comes as CMA CGM adds Gothenburg to its FAL1 Asia–Europe service from late October.
The route provides direct connections between Gothenburg and major ports in China, South Korea, Singapore, and Europe.
According to APMT Gothenburg Managing Director, Mikael Gutman, the additional calls enhance Sweden’s access to Asian markets and improve lead times for exporters and importers.

One of the vessels on the FAL1 loop, the 366-metre CMA CGM Symi, is powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), offering reduced emissions compared to conventional marine fuel.
CMA CGM Sweden said the move reflects growing demand from customers for direct calls in Gothenburg, while also supporting wider efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of maritime transport.
The service complements Gothenburg’s existing rail links across the Nordic region, contributing to a more integrated and lower-emission logistics chain.
Recently, APMT Lázaro Cárdenas received a new fully electric Super-Post-Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) crane.
