Moran Towing Company has added the Shiney V. Moran to its fleet at the Port of Brunswick, joining the Diane Moran as its two newest tugs supporting local ship operations.
The two new tugs will reportedly help the Port of Brunswick handle larger vessels while improving safety and efficiency.
Each tug has a 5,100-horsepower engine and more than 60 metric tonnes of pulling power. Moran Towing also runs the 3,000-horsepower Ann Moran at the port.
In 2024, Brunswick terminals handled 733 vessel calls, including 614 RoRo ships, 89 breakbulk carriers, and 30 bulk vessels. Docking operations run 24/7.
Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) President and CEO Griff Lynch stated: “These more powerful tugboats help prepare Colonels Island to better accommodate the expected to serve the US East Coast. Moran’s growth complements our investments in vehicle storage, auto processing capability and a future fourth berth for RoRo vessels.”

Their enhanced horsepower, firefighting capabilities, and escort functionalities will help us meet the needs of our growing port. These assets will directly contribute to safer, more efficient operations for the port and our partners.”
Bruce Fendig, President of the Brunswick Bar Pilots Association, added: “Our Brunswick tugboat operators are key partners in serving maritime trade. These new tugboats enhance the safety of maneuvering vessels through the harbour and berthing at the docks.”
