The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) handled 494,261 TEUs in October, representing a 10 percent increase of 45,000 TEUs from the previous month.
The Port of Savannah had almost half a million TEUs in October, making it the third busiest month on record behind 2021 and 2022.
Georgia Ports President and CEO, Griff Lynch, said: “Despite the cargo increases this year, many customers continue to divert to the U.S. West Coast while the contract negotiations are ongoing.”

In October, GPA’s performance was boosted by record commerce through the Appalachian Regional Port, which saw 3,666 train lifts, a 4.4 per cent increase.
For the first four months of the fiscal year 2025 (1 July 2024 – 31 October 2024), GPA transported 1.9 million TEUs, an increase of 211,320 or 12.3 per cent.
Colonel’s Island handled 68,569 units of RoRo freight in October and 300,647 units year-to-date (YTD), representing a 10.6 per cent increase.
In September, GPA handled 450,700 TEUs, its second busiest month on record, a 12 per cent increase over the same month last year.
