Adani’s Gangavaram Port has announced the induction of a new locomotive train to enhance the port’s operational capacity & efficiency in rake handling.
This announcement comes on 10 February.
The port infrastructure is being developed for future requirements of increased volumes of rakes.
A rake is a formation of coupled coaches or cars that makes up a (minus the loco).
The port has also set a new record in January of handling 600 rakes in a month, beating the previous record of 594 rakes last December.
The port has improved infrastructure facilities to manage various imports and export cargo while having several deep depth multi-purpose cargo berths.
Additionally, Gangavaram Port is equipped with enhanced material handling systems, alongside vast storage facilities including covered warehouses to manage various kinds of cargo.

Speaking on the occasion, Gangavaram Port Management stated: “We are extremely delighted on adding a new loco at the port… we at Adani Gangavaram Port offer substantial economic benefits to Indian importers combined with highly efficient port operations and evacuation system with faster turnaround time & delivery.”
This announcement comes months after Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) had acquired the remaining 58.1 per cent stake in Gangavaram Port, thereby becoming its majority and sole shareholder.
