This Friday PTI wants to bring you thought-provoking videos on automation, allowing food for thought for attendees to the upcoming Terminal Automation & Training C-Level Networking Conference, taking place in London on April 19-20, 2017.

PTI notes the top spot in terms of views (8 million) is held by a video describing how automation will impact workers.

This video looks at labour automation by comparing human to mechanical muscles, and the verdict it gives is dire. With automation poised to take over both skilled jobs like finance and low-skilled jobs like driving, new cheaper, self-teaching ‘general purpose’ robots threaten workers everywhere with permanent unemployment.

A second popular video is a vintage marketing video for Rockwell Automation, explaining an instrument “capable of automatically synchronizing cardinal grammeters” among other things.

A demo of German manufacturer Audi's automatic parking systems has also proved popular.

A further demo of FATA Automated Parking Systems has racked up several million views.

Those who still crave more automation can witness the operation of an automated Lego coal terminal, complete with trains, conveyor belts and pneumatic cylinders.
