A video released by the Port of Long Beach recently reports on more than 600 people who attended the Port of Long Beach's Pulse of the Ports – Peak Season Forecast event on April 29, 2015 at the Long Beach Convention Center's Pacific Ballroom.

PTI previously reported on the Port of Long Beach’s ‘Green Port Policy’ for ensuring that it becomes one of the most environmentally friendly ports in the world.

The presentation included discussions on the importance of efficient cargo handling and that more collaboration and communication is required to better service mega-ships and create the ‘new normal’.

Jon Slangerup, CEO of the Port of Long Beach, said: “My new normal is a level of performance that is world-class, not just simply being the best in the US, it’s not good enough.”

The event featured experts from all along the supply chain looking at what's coming this year in the logistics industry.

Dr. Noel Hacegaba, Chief Commercial Officer at the Port of Long Beach, has written a paper in the upcoming PTI edition 66 on tackling congestion caused by mega-ships on the US West Coast in which he outlines his ‘thinking outside of the docks’ initiative as a potential solution.
