A video released by the Daily Conversation gives an overview of the Nicaragua Canal project and the story behind the biggest engineering project in history.
In the video, the narrator tells of how globalisation has been the cause of constructing the Nicaragua Canal, since without this, the Western Hemisphere’s second poorest nation would not be able to afford the world’s most ambitious project without outside influence.
The narrator adds that it is hard to believe that the project, which is being funded by Chinese billionaire Wang Jing and his Hong Kong Nicaragua Development Group (HKND), will not be receiving backing by the Chinese government, especially as China has been using state-financed companies to buy more assets in the West.
