Crane part of a delivery of four cranes to Patrick’s Australian terminals
Fremantle Port has taken delivery of a new container crane for use at its Asciano-operated Patrick Terminal located at the Australian port’s North Quay.
The giant crane arrived onboard the Zhen Hua 21 having made the long journey from China, as part of a mega-sized delivery of four cranes. The remaining cranes will be delivered to Patrick’s container terminals in Brisbane and Melbourne.
Each crane, manufactured by Shanghai-based ZPMC of Shanghai, measures 104.5 metres in height, and boasts an outreach and backreach of 50 and 18 metres respectively.
“The arrival of these state-of-the-art cranes will enable us to provide further improvements in our service delivery to all our customers around Australia,” said Patrick terminals and logistics director, Alistair Field.
The crane at Fremantle Port will go through a detailed acceptance and commissioning process before a formal handover to the operations crew, and will begin initial operations by late June 2013, with full operations to follow successful testing.
