FERNRIDE has appointed Guenter Schmidmeir as its Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), effective January 2025.
Schmidmeir, who joined FERNRIDE as a Board Member in June 2024, brings over 25 years of industry experience, including roles at Navis and Kalmar, to lead the company’s commercial strategy.
In his new role, Schmidmeir aims to advance FERNRIDE’s automation solutions for container terminal operators transitioning to automated horizontal transportation.
Commenting on his appointment, Schmidmeir said, “FERNRIDE has addressed a critical need within the container terminal market: automation of horizontal container transport.
“By understanding our customers’ challenges, we aim to deliver superior solutions and ensure seamless implementation.”

FERNRIDE’s CEO and co-founder, Hendrik Kramer, expressed confidence in Schmidmeir’s leadership: “Guenter’s industry expertise and network uniquely position him to guide our commercial scaling. FERNRIDE aims to set new safety standards in autonomous trucking. With its CE-certified terminal tractors and compliance with the Machinery Directive, the company is on track to achieve EU certification by 2025, marking a significant step towards full commercialisation of its solutions.
