Independent experts have announced they are conducting a scientific and technical assessment of the application of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Guidelines on the life cycle GHG Intensity of marine fuels.
The experts are reportedly meeting under the auspices of the Joint Group of Experts on the Scientific Aspects of Marine Environmental Protection (GESAMP), which formed the new Working Group on Life Cycle GHG Intensity of Marine Fuels (GESAMP-LCA) in response to a recommendation from the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC).
This effort will assist MEPC in further refining the IMO LCA framework.
