TOC Europe is shaping up nicely, with a host of big names set to attend, and over 160 exhibitors on show, Port Technology will be sure to keep its readers in the loop as TOC heads to the capital.

Now entering its 39th year, the annual TOC event showcases new age technologies whilst discussing the hot topics affecting our industry today.

The European leg of the TOC calendar is set to be our industry’s biggest event of the year and, according to Bemo Rail Director Teun Druijf, one of the most important.

“It’s a meeting point to speak with new and existing customers and suppliers from all over the world,” he told PTI.

These sentiments are echoed by Alex Le Clef, Managing Director of Leghorn-Perfra, who has been exhibiting at the show for the past three years.

“The event has proven to be the ideal platform for us to meet the most important key players in the sector,” said the head of the Belgian firm.

Tony Hart of Avonwood Developments agrees, adding that he sees TOC as the “ideal arena to build awareness of ZoneSafe”, the company’s proximity warning system solution.

In partnership with the Port of Rotterdam, Europe’s largest port, the event will host a list of key speakers addressing the current climate and how to adapt to a constantly changing logistics landscape.

It is therefore only apt that TOC has chosen to host their event at the London ExCel, with the UK capital standing at the forefront of the shipping industry with the recently opened DP World London Gateway.

The success of the new mega-port symbolises a strengthened Europe escaping the financial recession it burdened five years ago.

A newly designed format will allow delegates to get more for their money, with a number of free to attend exhibitions and conferences that will run from 24th to 26th June.

TOC CSC, as always, will act as the leading forum for the discussion of container transport and trade, providing insight and analysis to what helps drive international trade, transport and logistics. Focus will be on the development of the new P3 alliance and other mega-partnerships that are more than likely to reshape the industry as we know it, alongside the dawning of Ultra-large vessels that now dominate the world’s shipping routes, and the nature of an industry hoping to adapt to them.

CSC will also provide a free-to-attend, two-day seminar, focusing on the latest innovations in dry bulk shipping, handling and port technologies. The ‘Bulk Ports & Technology’ seminars hope to provide a comprehensive analysis of global commodity trades, alongside in-depth case studies focusing on the latest in terminal technologies, management and operations. The event is a must for specialists who work in the movement and handling of dry bulk shipments.

The TECH TOC conference will connect operators alongside equipment and technology suppliers a chance to explore the latest innovations in container handling technology, both physical and digital.

As a first, this year’s event will feature the Port Centric Logistics Village (PCL 2014), in partnership with SHD Magazine. The village will allow suppliers of materials handling equipment, logistics and intra-logistics a chance to interact with key distributors and transport operators located around the UK and Europe.

PCL hopes to provide educational content designed specifically for shippers, freight forwarders and ports who are engaged with port centric logistics operations.
Furthermore, delegates will be free to take a tour of the London Gateway, by port operators, DP World. The tour will explore how port developments have revolutionised the link between shipping and the hinterland.

In the lead up to TOC Europe, Port Technology will be offering blanket coverage of this year’s conference and exhibition, with interviews from a number of exhibitors and key players over the coming weeks.
