Evergreen Line has marked its 50th anniversary with a massive order of refrigerated containers from Carrier Transicold.
The move is yet another sign of the Taiwanese ocean carrier’s confidence in its trade routes to South-East Asia and the Pacific.
Having recently opened a new office in Cambodia, it teamed up with Hyandai Merchant Marine last month to provide a new weekly Central and South China – Australia Express service, which is due to begin in mid-August.
It has also boosted its Asia – East Africa service by adding one more vessel to meet heightened demand in both regions.
Evergreen’s order of 3,000 containers was based on refrigeration performance and power efficiency as part of its strategy to lead the industry in building environmentally-friendly supply chains.

Andrew See, General Manager, Global Container Refrigeration, Greater China, Carrier Traniscold, said: “These are great milestones for both companies, and we’re delighted that Evergreen Lines places its trust and confidence in Carrier Traniscold and our popular PrimeLINE unit, a highly advanced model of our original front-wall unit and one that has led the industry for 10 years.
“Evergreen’s PrimeLINE units feature our LED control-display option, which the shipping line considers advantageous for ship crews visually monitoring stacked containers on-board a vessel.”
