EUROGATE Container Terminal Hamburg has been announced as ‘Best Container Terminal Europe 2016’ for the third consecutive year at the Asian Freight, Logistics & Supply Chain Awards, which is organised by Asia Cargo News.
The Award was presented this year for the thirtieth time in Shanghai.
With a majority of votes, these readers rated EUROGATE Container Terminal Hamburg the ‘Best Container Terminal Europe 2016’.
Like previous years, the rating was based on such criteria as variety of product range, container handling rates per dock crane, efficient turnaround of trucks, timely and adequate investment in new terminal structure to meet future demands and effective IT systems.
Despite the nautical access conditions, EUROGATE Container Terminal Hamburg has the capacity to handle mega ships.
Peter Zielinski, Managing Director of the container terminal in Hamburg, personally accepted the award in Shanghai and on behalf of all colleagues and staff thanked the customers in Asia for their positive recognition.
The European terminal operator recently announced that it had been able to increase net profit by 13.4% to US$83.5 million in 2015.
The volume of container handled at its German container terminals also rose in 2015 by 1.5% to a total of 8.2 million TEU.
