EUROGATE acquires 15 Konecranes Noell Straddle Carriers
EUROGATE Container Terminal Hamburg GmbH has purchased 15 Hybrid Konecranes Noell Straddle Carriers.

The order, which is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2024, is for the innovative modular straddle carrier design, which allows for quick drive retrofits to eliminate fossil fuel reliance.

The straddle carriers are scheduled to be delivered in July 2026. According to Konecrane,s the EUROGATE Group handles more than 12 million TEUs annually at nine locations across Europe and Africa.

Over the past 25 years, the operator has deployed several hundred Konecranes Noell Straddle Carriers across its German network.

The 15 straddle carriers offer modularity that allows customers to retrofit power options with minimal effort, resulting in zero dependence on fossil fuels.

Konecranes noted that drive upgrades historically needed expensive rebuilds, but the new design makes the switch to battery-electric or hydrogen power easier.
