Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi participated in a Russian interview recently with Sputnik news agency where he talked about a number of issues, which included an invite for Russian investors to spend big on the Suez Canal development.
According to Dredging Today, the President reviewed the New Suez Canal project, highlighting the marvellous role played by the Egyptian population to fund it.
Sisi said the nation’s help reflected the popular confidence in the vision of the state about the importance of the project.
Sisi then invited Russian investors to take part in the Suez Canal Corridor Development project, highlighting the benefits that will be offered from investment opportunities in a plea to what could prove to be a key sign of Egypt’s trade plans for the Suez Canal.
With the Panama Canal expansion soon to be complete and China pushing hard to drill a waterway through Nicaragua, Suez is acting fast in an attempt to avoid playing catch-up in what is becoming a game of global-trade chess.
