The e-commerce marketplace war has continued with eBay after it announced changes this summer that will guarantee three-day delivery in the US on more than 20 million items.

Millions of those eligible items will also be free to ship and shoppers will be able to filter items by one- and two-day delivery.

The news comes as the world's largest retailer, Walmart, announced free two-day shipping on more than two million items without a membership fee, as well as free shipping to homes for orders $35 and above.

The previous threshold of spending in order to receive the free two-day shipping was $50.

Amazon recently also lowered its free shipping minimum to US$35 in a bid to counter Walmart after previously holding its free shipping minimum at $49.

Hal Lawton, Senior Vice President of North America at eBay, said: “While the majority of items on eBay already ship within three days or less, as well as for free, Guaranteed Delivery will give shoppers even faster delivery options and the confidence that their items will arrive on time.”
