A partnership between Data and System Planning (DSP) and Cargo Velocity (CV) will provide a new, comprehensive service to cargo facility operators in North America called the Synchronized Project Delivery (SPD) program.
The collaboration will address terminal challenges with expert program managers by combining DSP’s services as an informatics technology consultancy for the shipping industry with Cargo Velocity’s focus on terminal design and data analysis.
Cargo terminals are increasingly leveraging technology to deliver value to shipping lines and the overall supply chain.
The problem with such implementations is that they often are underutilized, or derailed by adjacent challenges at the terminal.

DSP and CV aim to generate true use and value of the system or migrate the terminal to another system to go beyond what technology vendors offer.
In an announcement, DSP said that the SPD program will be “sensitive to the local work environment and the priorities of local managers” and consider adjacent factors to each step of technology change.
Factors include dynamic operating practices, Terminal Operating System (TOS) upgrades and tuning, equipment and cargo identification systems, cargo facility layout planning/optimization, changing labour assignments, and IT infrastructure consulting.

DSP and CV will focus on ensuring that each operation affected by a change in terminal use and technology upgrade is optimized through assessment and planning with terminal operating staff.
Implementations using the broader SPD approach are aimed at delivering productivity, efficiency and lower costs.
DSP and CV have a combined team of nearly 50 industry experts.
Marco Fehmer, DSP’s CEO, said: “This agreement will reinforce our team’s unique talents to allow better customer coverage in the American Region.
“Adding the skillset and the experience of Cargo Velocity to DSP knowledge network will represent a great value for our customers.”
Dan Johnson, President of Cargo Velocity, commented: “We formed this partnership for our customers’ benefit.
“Through cooperation with DSP we expand our technical services incrementally and add redundancy in critical skill sets.
“This enables us to continue to deliver high quality projects at the pace requested by our customers.”
