Drewry: Chinese Demand Slump Hammers World Trade

A video released by Jeremy Howell via YouTube shows Martin Dixon, Director of Drewry Maritime Research explaining to the BBC the impact of the fall in demand for European goods from Chinese buyers.

World freight trade was recorded as having an 8% rise in 2014, but total trade growth for the year to date has fallen by around 3.5%. Shipping lines have been frantically ordering more vessels in order to fill extra capacity, but the drop is demand has caused the reverse effect, with many lines struggling to fill ships.
