Camco Technologies has confirmed that it will be installing a gate automation system for terminal operator DP World at its Callao terminal in Peru early next year.

DP World Callao will benefit from eight new inbound and four new outbound lanes with optical character recognition (OCR) technology that will fully integrate into the terminal’s TOS system.

Unmanned driver pedestals will also allow for automated processing and validation of truck and container data.

Camco will provide the terminal operator with the new technology by Q1 2018.

Eduardo Chappuis, Project and CSR Director at DP World Callao, said: “It is crucial to improve the gate processes to accommodate for the higher expected throughput.

“With Camco’s automated validation and registration processes, we aim to accelerate and simplify gate processes and enhance overall terminal safety and security.”

Anton Bernaerd, Business Development Director at Camco, said: “We are honored that DP World Callao, strategically located near Lima and undisputed gateway for Peru’s import and export container traffic, decided to partner with us to automate their gate processes.

“Camco’s visual based Process Automation Solutions will contribute to the overall productivity, performance and safety on the container terminal.”
