DP World and Reliance Industries have partnered to revolutionise petrochemical logistics, shifting product transport from road to rail to cut carbon emissions and boost operational efficiency.
The new logistics solution connects Reliance Industries’ Jamnagar plant in Gujarat to DP World’s inland container depot (ICD) in Ahmedabad, and then to the Port of Mundra.
Previously, each container required nearly 700 kilometres of road haulage to reach Mundra from Jamnagar.
The new solution has converted the approximately 700-kilometre Ahmedabad-Jamnagar-Mundra route to rail.
This transition eliminates the environmental and operational challenges associated with long-distance road transport while maintaining the same coverage.

The integrated rail service moves up to 1,260 tonnes of cargo and consolidates 45 containers in one trip, streamlining logistics and reducing the need for multiple trailers and drivers.
According to DP World, this cuts transportation costs and ensures timely exports with seamless vessel connectivity.
By eliminating over 700 kilometres of road transport per container, the rail solution reduces carbon emissions and supports Reliance’s environmental goals.
