DP World, Evyap forge new logistics hub to boost Turkish trade

DP World and Evyap Group have completed a strategic merger to establish a new international logistics facility in Turkey.

The completion follows regulatory permission from the Turkish Competition Authority.

The newly created firm, DP World Evyap, sees the logistics giant obtaining a 58 per cent interest in Evyapport and Evyap Group securing a 42 per cent share of DP World Yarımca. The ports will be rebranded as ‘DP World Evyap Yarımca’ and ‘DP World Evyap Körfez’.

The new firm will reportedly assist in fulfilling the region’s rising need for advanced logistics, increasing Turkey’s export and import volumes, opening up new industries, and improving the country’s developing role as a significant hub in global supply chains.

The merger will result in a total of 2,088 metres of berthing space and the ability to accommodate more than one ultra-large container ship at the same time at both terminals.

The total yearly container handling capacity will also reach 2 million TEU, as the integrated operation develops to encompass project and heavy-lift cargo services.

Furthermore, the newly merged company will benefit from upgraded road and rail connections, as well as faster turnaround times, thanks to a staff of over 900 logistics professionals devoted to streamlining cargo journeys.

“DP World Evyap’s combination of the respective strengths of our existing infrastructures will provide our customers with a powerful new service offering at the heart of this increasingly important region for global trade.”

Mehmed Evyap, founder and CEO of Evyap Holding, stated: “This partnership combines the global expertise of DP World and the local knowledge of Evyapport and strengthens our presence in the port sector as we expand our investments in this field.

“The new company will shorten operation times, increase service diversity and add value to our customers and Türkiye’s trade with efficiencies achieved across the two partnership terminals.”

In May, DP World created new routes to alleviate key raw material shortages affecting Turkish importers across a variety of industries, including automotive.
