CyberLogitec, a provider of IT solutions for the maritime industry, has been contracted by Safiport Derince to implement the OPUS Terminal operating system at its newest container terminal.

Safiport Derince, a greenfield port project based in the Marmara region of Turkey, is aiming to become the country’s largest industrial port.

According to a statement, the current port area of 600,000 square metres (sqm) is expected to double to 1.2 million sqm in the near future, while the annual container capacity is also predicted to rise to 2.5 million TEU.

The OPUS Terminal system began implementation in July 2018, and is scheduled to go live in the first quarter of 2019.

OPUS Terminal is a highly integrated platform that manages the entire terminal from gate to yard, and ultimately to ship.

Through its combined planning, operation, EDI and management supporting systems, the solution enables terminals to service ships at a more efficient rate.

Tanzer Genç, Safiport Derince IT Manager, said: “We have established Safiport to become the most advanced container terminal operator in Turkey.

“It is our goal to be recognized as the most advanced terminal operator in Turkey. By implementing CyberLogitec’s OPUS Terminal, we believe that Safi will be able to better support its customers, streamline operational processes and enhance efficiency.”
