Here is a breakdown of CTAC19’s sessions and the key subjects that will be discussed.

 

 

Day One – May 7, 2019

Session 1 – The Industry Today: A Macro-Economic Perspective

CTAC19 begins with a comprehensive overview of the state of automation projects in ports and terminals. Furthermore, it will look at what to expect in the evolution of the shipping and logistics industry in 2019.

Session 3 – M2M, V2V & V2X: Communication is the Future

This session will explore the best ways to utilize M2M and V2V technologies to improve visibility, security and safety.  

Session 4 – Stream A – Converging Exponential Smart Technologies: Delivering Data & Performance

Here we will look at Cellular IoT and Industry 4.0 and ask how related technologies, such as Hyperloop, digital twins, drones and robots can improve data analysis and overall operations.

 

 

Session 4 – Stream B – Converging Exponential Smart Technologies: Delivering Data & Performance

Following on from Stream A, the key topics up for discussion here will be Blockchain and Globalization 4.0. What is Blockchain and how can it increase industry competitiveness? These are the questions that will be asked.

Session 5 – Automation Ports 4.0: Driving Efficiency & Densification

The semi and fully automated container terminal markets are expected to grow from US$9 billion in 2018 to US$10.8 billion by 2023. What are the short and long term returns on investment from automation?

 

 

Day 2 – May 8, 2019

Session 1 – Port-Centric Logistics: Warehousing

The ‘Amazon Effect’ is affecting ports and wider global supply chain. Therefore, this session asks: how can innovative technologies, such as warehouse management systems, benefit operations and what can stakeholders do to improve customer service?

Session 2 – 5G: The Next-Gen Communications Network

What is 5G and how does it work? What does it mean for terminal operations and how can it cut power consumption and latency? These are some of the questions that will be considered here.

Session 3 – Dynamic Terminal Planning Optimization: Maximizing KPIs

This session will look at real-time and holistic operational planning and how wholescale port operations can be improved.

Session 4 – AI & Machine Learning: Mobilizing Human-Machine Collaboration

AI is the next stage of human-machine collaboration. Here, we will ask: what is an AI controlled terminal operating system and how can it be successfully integrated into a port’s operations?

Final Panel Discussion – Delivering Performance: Driving Optimization

This session will look at all the major topics discussed so far, including how delivering real-time performance is key to ensuring optimal productivity, optimization and capacity planning.
