CTAC19: AI, Smart Ports and Driving Optimization
The Container Terminal Automation Conference 2019 (CTAC19) is now just a matter of days away, and as part of the build-up, we are looking ahead to what the afternoon of Day 2 will bring.
In a previous preview on April 29, 2019, we explored what to expect in the morning of day 2, with a particular focus on the ‘LTE & 5G: Next-Gen Communications’ session, which will look into the security and reliability of advanced networks.
The afternoon will continue in the same vein, and offer unique insights into some of the most fascinating trends in the ports and terminals sector.
There will be two sessions, one of which will be the final panel discussion, but it begins with a keynote speech from INFORM’s Dr Eva Savelsberg and Matthew Wittemeier titled ‘2038: A Smart Port Story’, when part 2 of their science fiction novella of the same name will be released.
This will be followed ‘AI & Machine Learning: Mobilising Human-Machine Collaboration’, to be moderated by Wittemeier, will explore how artificial intelligence (AI) is driving a new era of container terminal operations.
Questions such as how AI can be integrated into container terminal operations will be addressed, as will the value of augmented reality applications and how machines can be utilized to solve complex problems.
The afternoon will also see CTAC19’s conclusion, with it set to wrap up with the final panel discussion, titled ‘Delivering Performance: Driving Optimization’, which go over many of the themes covered throughout the conference.
It will include experts and executives throughout the industry drill down into how ports and terminals can ensure optimal productivity.
Data analytics, capacity sensing, route optimization and energy management are among the many topics due to be discussed and debated as CTAC19 draws to a close.
