COSCO signs deal with Midea Group

COSCO Shipping and Midea Group have signed a strategic cooperation and transportation framework agreement to improve supply chain logistics processes.

In a statement, COSCO Shipping said it will look to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit, win-win cooperation and common development with Midea Group.

It will also look to build an in-depth strategic cooperation in container shipping, logistics, overseas collaboration, digital transformation, centralised procurement and technology exchange.

“COSCO SHIPPING has maintained a long-term good cooperative relationship with Midea Group,” the carrier said.

“Amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, COSCO SHIPPING has overcome many challenges to provide Midea Group with butler-like personalized services via its exclusive service team, offering strong logistics support for the stability of Midea Group’s global supply chain.

“In the future, COSCO SHIPPING will continue to fulfill its corporate responsibility, help facilitate economic and trade recovery at home and abroad, and provide quality services for its global customers.”

COSCO, the third-largest container shipping line in the world by market share, signed similar agreements with Chinese companies Shougang Group and the China National Salt Industry Group (China Salt) in December 2020 to deepen cooperation in shipping, logistics and supply chain services.

China-based Midea Group is one of the largest manufacturers of technology products in the world and the leading provider of home appliances.
