COSCO SHIPPING held a naming ceremony for the OCEAN INSPIRATION in Shanghai this May, marking a milestone in its growing fleet.
The vessel was built with a “China-made propeller + SCR” power architecture, designed to reduce overall energy consumption.
The vessel is also equipped with a cargo containment system, a dual-fuel low-speed engine propulsion system, and a cryogenic device that manages speed and evaporation gas dynamics.
The ship can operate efficiently on both long and short routes, covering over 90 per cent of global LNG trade routes.
The project used domestically produced components, including low-temperature butterfly valves and expansion joints. These components were applied to meet various operational scenarios in LNG maritime transportation.

COSCO SHIPPING reported in a statement: “The practical application of these domestically produced pieces of equipment on ships has significantly contributed to the formation of a hundred-billion-yuan industrial cluster in China’s high-end equipment manufacturing industry, injecting robust momentum into the construction of the LNG industrial chain.”
Earlier this March, two of the liner’s vessels, COSCO ASIA and NEW LOS ANGELES, refuelled with B24 marine biofuel oil. COSCO ASIA refuelled with 2,400 tonnes at the Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal, creating a new single-refuelling record for biofuel oil at Fujian Port, and NEW LOS ANGELES refuelled with 5,400 tonnes at the Hong Kong terminal, marking a milestone for biofuel oil refuelling in Hong Kong.
