China COSCO Shipping Corporation (COSCO) has carried out the first container unloading berthing with mixed operations between 5G unmanned container trucks and regular ones for specialised vessels.

On 15 April, COSCO-operated vessel M.V. LE CONG docked at Berth 17 of the Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal with the issuance of remote instructions.

According to the company’s statement, the trucks moved precisely into the designated position of the gantry crane after picking up containers from the bridge crane and the entire process was finished in one go.

Last month, COSCO Shipping Ports Limited (CSP) announced its annual financial and operational results for 2021, posting a significant improvement in revenue.

In Q4 2021, CSP saw its revenues increase by 25.1 per cent to $347.6 million. Gross profit also increased by 57.7 per cent to $99.4 million.
