Hannibal, the Contship Italia Group’s multimodal transport operator, has announced the launch of a direct link between Melzo (Milan) and Marcianise (Caserta).
Beginning on 3 December 2024, the new intermodal service will aim to address the rising need for sustainable and efficient logistics solutions.
The Melzo Marcianise link provides two weekly round excursions from the Milan Rail Hub in Melzo to the Marcianise-Maddaloni terminal.

To accommodate the rising need for efficient and sustainable transportation, the frequency of connections will be increased to three per week beginning in Q1 2025.
The service’s low-loading wagons allow it to take various sorts of containers, with a capacity of 32 per train.
Oceanogate, the Contship Group operator that specialises in rail freight transport, will provide rail traction.

In addition, we can integrate the offer by guaranteeing efficient customs operations with containers on the ground, as well as first and last mile transports by truck.”
In August, Wärtsilä and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) agreed on the sale of the Trieste production facility.
