Chuck Schneider, Vice President and General Manager at Navis, has answered questions about what approach the container shipping technology company is taking towards digital issues within its industry.

The one-on-one interview, part of a series filmed at Port Technology's Container Terminal Automation Conference (#CTAC2018), has revealed how recent developments (timestamped below) are influencing how Navis connects its software components.

Schneider also spoke about why the shipping industry needs to connect the entire supply chain in a more optimized way.

While speaking about how artificial intelligence (AI) could affect the industry, Schneider said: “People are going to use AI techniques to make incremental improvements to make optimization better, data collection and data cleansing better.

“If people think AI is a silver bullet, I don’t think it will be, but I do think that applying the techniques of AI to the problems we’re trying to solve will allow us to solve them in a better way.”
