Combining knowledge and collaborating in innovation: Aidrivers and KCL sign new MoU

KCL, the Asia-based leading distributor and supplier of spare parts and replacements for materials handling equipment, is dedicated to improving the efficiency and performance of ports and other businesses in a wide range of industries.

Now the company has linked up with Aidrivers, the global specialist in AI-enabled autonomous solutions across industrial mobility automation, in a new agreement that will see the two sides work as strategic partners.

London-based Aidrivers and Hong Kong-based KCL will together pursue business opportunities for the delivery and provision of AI-enabled autonomous mobility solutions, digital twinning and analytics technology in seaports, warehouses and intralogistics industries in Northeast Asia – focusing on Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines South Korea, and Taiwan.

The companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that outlines plans for joint preparation of an autonomous prime mover, to demonstrate its autonomous mobility capabilities to prospective customers.

KCL was established in 2018 as a distribution partner of Konecranes in China and steadily extended its product range. Today it is a distributor of Terberg, sfPorteq spreaders, Merford cabins and OPS Factor desks. In addition, it offers products from Bromma, Fantuzzi, Kalmar, Terex, Linde and Hyster, including OEM parts and replacements. KCL has built an extensive network of international alliance partners and clients in mainland China, Southeast Asia and Australia and is rapidly expanding its global reach. Its ‘one-stop-shop’ approach covers spreaders, reach stackers, terminal tractors, forklifts, cabins and parts, and also includes maintenance and training services.

Aidrivers is a global specialist in AI-enabled autonomous solutions and autonomous retrofitting capabilities for industrial automation, and in the creation and application of autonomous simulation, digital twinning and V2X-enabled fleet management systems for reducing industry waste and increasing efficiency, to contribute to decarbonisation in ports and logistics.

“We look forward to working with KCL to explore and evaluate opportunities for collaboration, where one party’s skills, resources and technical knowledge may complement the other’s,” said Dr. Rafiq Swash, founder and CEO of Aidrivers.

“Aidrivers and KCL will collaborate to come up with go-to-market strategies towards business development and market penetration for Aidrivers’ products and solution offerings and KCL’s products and services, to meet the accelerating demands of the market for autonomous solutions as part of a sustainable future.”

Ken Loh, CEO of KCL said: “The goal of KCL is to work closely with our partners and associates to deliver solutions and serve customers locally and internationally. Our founders and management team have more than 120 years of combined experience in business and we have dedicated ourselves to improving the efficiency and performance of businesses in a wide range of industries.

“Our new collaboration with Aidrivers will be an important part of our drive forward in terms of innovation and expansion for the benefit of our customers.”
