CMR Group Offers Advanced Monitoring System
The development of advanced monitoring and control technologies for the maritime sector is being driven by innovation, according to a new report from CMR Group’s Marine Business Unit Manager Gérard Baldellou.
With vessel operating costs predicted to increase by over 2% in 2018, as well as repair and maintenance expenses, businesses in the maritime space “must strive to cut costs and operate more efficiently” says Baldellou.
As a result of this, several companies are aiming to implement added-value technologies powered by advanced digital solutions, driving up performance levels while cutting costs.

Another solution being pursued by the shipping industry, especially instrumentation and control manufacturers, is to collaborate with engine manufacturers in order to deliver reliable solutions that reduce expenses.
Baldellou emphasizes that organizations like CMR Group are focused on providing effective and high-quality precision engineered solutions that are built around meeting individual requirements, the organization working closely with end users to “ensure that projects are completed as quickly as possible”.
A factor that also has to be considered is the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) regulations for MARPOL Annex VI Tier III, which have been introduced to reduce the level of emissions produced by sea-going vessels.

In response to this, CMR has developed a new generation of advanced engine solutions and an integrated alarm, monitoring and control system (IAMCS).
The IAMCS can be directly linked, says Baldellou, to smart sensors and harnesses, enabling data transfer onshore for predictive analysis, intervention and maintenance.
In addition, it is clear that vessel owners and operators value the availability of their craft, which means “routine engine maintenance schedules must be optimized and planned very carefully” with the support of partner suppliers.
CMR responds to this need, offering a service that is geared towards meeting the specification of the customer.
