CMA CGM Exec Joins Georgia Ports

Ed McCarthy, Chief Operating Officer (COO) for CMA CGM America, is to take over operations at the Georgia Ports Authority, leading 90% of the workforce, according to JOC.com

Griff Lint, former COO of the Georgia Ports Authority, said: “His experience at major shipping lines and port terminals on both coasts will deliver important insights as we work to capture new opportunities in Savannah and Brunswick.”

The Georgia Ports authority is responsible for the fourth busiest container terminal in the US.

In early August 2016, the Georgia Port Authority was awarded a US grant to of US$44 million to allow rail to handle more shipments of export cargo and import cargo to boost operations and international trade.

During a board meeting held by the Georgia Ports Authority, it approved a spending package of approximately $19 million to construct the Appalachian Regional Port in Chatsworth, Murray County, Georgia.
