CMA CGM launches rail product connecting to Malaysian port

CMA CGM has launched a new rail product to service the booming market of Ipoh via Port Klang.

According to the French shipping company, the new rail product from CMA CGM is the only one on the market.

The service connects Ipoh to the rest of the globe via Port Klang through 54 maritime services and aims to offer competitive service reliability, with set daily departures and a transit period of fewer than 24 hours.

The company noted that the CO2 reduction of this route is significant. Ipoh Ramp can be reached from Shanghai in 22 days, Antwerp in 38 days and Nhava Sheva in 16 days.

In November, CMA CGM announced the beginning of its new weekly route, the Maya route, devoted to West Coast Central America.

More recently, the company announced that it would introduce Vietnam’s first zero-emissions inland transport solution: a fully electric barge powered by green energy, supported by a new solar farm at Gemalink terminal in Cai Mep.
