  • Far East & European customers turn to Cavotec for AMP solutions

Cavotec has won a number of significant orders worth approximately €12 million for its shore power systems from customers in Europe and the Far East.

For the largest of these orders, Cavotec will manufacture and supply more than 50 ship-based Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) units for a major container shipping line.

In addition, Cavotec will also supply a substantial number of AMP cable management systems for customers in China and South Korea. These units will be fitted to container vessels. Elsewhere in China, the company will install 16 AMP cable management units on bulk carriers.

A UK-based customer meanwhile has ordered ship-based AMP and cable management systems for two new 9,000 TEU capacity vessels. Cavotec will not only supply the units but will be responsible for their installation and commissioning. For this project, Cavotec will manufacture cable management systems that will be placed in two specially adapted 40ft “High Cube” AMP containers, together with Medium Voltage systems and control equipment. The contract includes training at Cavotec’s facility in Shanghai, and commissioning in the US where the ships fitted with the units will call the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach and Oakland.

Today’s announcement, follows last week’s news that the company has received its largest ever order for its MoorMaster automated mooring units from South Africa’s state-owned port operator Transnet.
