Pilbara Ports posts 65.9 million tonnes throughput in April
Pilbara Ports recorded a total monthly throughput of 65.9 million tonnes (Mt) in April 2026, a two per cent increase on the same period last year.

The Port of Port Hedland handled 47Mt for the month, of which 46.3Mt comprised iron ore exports — a one per cent decline year-on-year. Imports through the port totalled 217,000 tonnes, up one per cent on April 2025.

The Port of Dampier delivered a stronger result, posting a total throughput of 15.2Mt, a three per cent increase from April 2025. Imports through Dampier rose sharply, up 41 per cent to 119,000 tonnes.

Pilbara Ports noted that a range of factors, including market and weather conditions, port maintenance operations and customer requirements influences throughput fluctuations.

In February, Pilbara Ports handled 55.9Mt, extending a run of record volumes driven by operational changes at the Port of Port Hedland.
