Lomé Container Terminal (LCT) in Togo is set to take delivery of two Konecranes SMV 4632 TC5 reach stackers and seven Konecranes SMV 7/8 ECC90 empty container handlers in Q2 2026.

The order strengthens the long-term relationship between LCT and Konecranes as the terminal expands capacity at one of West Africa’s key transshipment hubs.

LCT already operates a sizeable Konecranes fleet, including 32 RTGs powered by electric busbars and auxiliary generators.

The new reach stackers will be deployed for yard container handling, while the empty container handlers will be used for stacking and repositioning empty units.

The equipment will be supplied with support from Paterson Simons, Konecranes’ distributor in West and Central Africa.

The new units will replace older Konecranes lift trucks in the fleet. They are fitted with TRUCONNECT® Remote Monitoring, providing operational data for maintenance planning and uptime management.

Bernard Abboud, Technical Director at Lomé Container Terminal, said the equipment has proven reliable in operations and will support the terminal’s growth as a regional logistics hub.

The terminal opened in 2014 and began working with Konecranes the same year. The partnership with Paterson Simons has supported equipment servicing and availability during LCT’s expansion.

John Elisson, Regional Manager MEA, Konecranes Lift Trucks, stated: “This order delivers a balanced equipment mix to support a wide range of container handling tasks across the yard. Our long-standing collaboration with Paterson Simons is key, bringing deep local expertise and a clear understanding of operating conditions at the Lomé terminal.”

Recently, two Konecranes E-ACE 7/8 ECC 90 electric empty container handlers were deployed at Transtec World’s container depot at the Port of Santos, marking the first use of electric empty container handling equipment from Konecranes in the Americas.
