Busan expects distribution centre to be finished by end of 2021

The Busan Port Authority (BPA) has confirmed that the construction of its distribution centre with the Port of Rotterdam is due to be finished by the end of 2021.

In a statement, the BPA said the BPA-Rotterdam Distribution Center Project is designed to strengthen the distribution network for Korean companies doing business in Europe.

In October 2020, the BPA established an office in The Netherlands and chose a construction company to begin work on the 30,000 sq.m distribution centre.

BPA CEO Nam Ki-chan said, “The Port of Rotterdam is an essential distribution hub for Europe, where combined transport is actively carried out for approximately 30 European countries.

“Once the BPA- Rotterdam Distribution Center starts to operate, it will greatly help Korean companies to do business in the European market.”

In May 2021, the BPA announced an acceleration of its smart port upgrade with the integration of 5G mobile edge computing convergence technology into its remote controlled crane fleet.
