Delays are shaking Brazil’s Porto Chibatao after two harbour cranes and two floating pontoons sunk, according to the Journal of Commerce.

The accident reportedly took place after operators were unloading from a cement carrier.

Two statements were released by Porto Chibatão to inform various parties that there no injuries.

A Manaus-based shipping agent said: “The cause of the accident at Porto Chibatão is still unknown but they can still operate, we think, with what is left.”

An accident took place recently after an APL Temasek mega-ship collided with an STS crane at the Suez Canal container terminal.

Issues such as this can have serious implications on both port operations and the safety of port workers, highlighting the need for management to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
