Former DCT Gdansk CEO to replace John Erwin Thomsen from May 2nd
Boris Wenzel, former CEO of Polish container company DCT Gdansk, has been appointed the new chief operations manager (COO) of Noatum Ports.
Wenzel will relieve John Erwin Thomsen, a merchant navy Master with more than 30 years’ experience in both the maritime and ports sector, from May 2nd.
“John has not only been instrumental in the transition process from Dragados to Noatum, but also in the company’s development during these years,” said Noatum CEO, Douglas Schultz.
“John has been a reference for the port sector in Spain and we thank him for his professional service to the company.”
Thomsen’s replacement Wenzel has experience in different business environments in Europe, Asia and Latin America. In addition to his time at DCT Gdansk, his professional career includes positions with PSA International, Macquarie Bank, ESCO Group, Bangkok Bank of Commerce, the French Embassy and Ernst & Young.
Noatum Ports is the largest maritime terminal operator in Spain, with assets in Bilbao (Noatum Container Terminal Bilbao), Valencia (Noatum Container Terminal Valencia), Malaga (Noatum Container Terminal Malaga) and Las Palmas (Operaciones Canarias Las Palmas, OPCSA), as well as the largest vehicle handling terminal in the Mediterranean, based in Barcelona (Autoterminal).
