Bolloré Ports has introduced two new Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes worth €3.8 million ($4 million) at its Congo Terminal.

The cranes were delivered in March, bringing total equipment levels to 20 RTG cranes.

The new RTGs have a lifting capacity of 40 tonnes to boost delivery rates and reduce the time required to process goods. The cranes are also equipped with a real-time GPS that optimises the management of operations to make imported containers available.

Looking forward, Bolloré Ports aims to make Congo Terminal a major platform in transshipment on the West African coast.

The company has already invested to upgrade the container terminal’s storage capacity and boost equipment fleet.

Throughout 2021, the Congo terminal exceeded a major container threshold by handling a total of 1,003,734 TEU.

In April MSC Group entered into a share purchase agreement with Bolloré SE for the buyout of Bolloré Africa Logistics.
