Dr Sukhy Barhey has been appointed as the new director to lead BMT Asia Pacific’s strategy for growth and development at BMT’s Advisory, Environmental, Risk Management, Rail, Maritime Engineering and Naval Architecture businesses across Asia.

Dr Barhey was previously with Lloyd’s Register, Parsons Brinkerhoff, DNV and BP working all over the world, including in Singapore and Hong Kong, which is where the Asia Pacific strategy will be based.

Technical Paper: Optimising Port Investment

Dr Richard Colwill, Managing Director of BMT Asia Pacific, said: “The ports, infrastructure and built environment sectors are increasingly faced with complex challenges requiring ever-greater specialisation, efficiency and problem-solving capability across their value chains.

“Dr Barhey’s appointment reinforces our commitment to assisting investors, developers and operators in meeting these challenges.

“The Hong Kong and Singapore businesses have a series of complimentary skill sets that, working together, offer a complete solution to many maritime, urban, transport and industrial challenges.”

In late 2015, BMT reached an agreement with Hong Kong Nicaragua Canal Development (HKND) to carry out marine and port assessments on the US$50 billion Nicaragua Canal project.

Colwill concludes: “As we bring our offices together, we aim to continually enhance the quality and efficiency of our services and I look forward to working with Sukhy to assist our clients across an expanded range of markets and services.
