Odessa inaugurates US$125 million facility
Ukraine’s Odessa Port held a ceremony this week to inaugurate its new US$125 million grain export terminal.
The terminal, capable of storing and handling up to four million tonnes annually, is a joint investment project between the Ukraine Sea Ports Authority, the Port of Odessa and Ukrainian-British company Brooklyn-Kyiv.
In a statement, the Port of Odessa said that the new complex, the largest grain export facility on the Black Sea Coast, will create new logistics chains and contribute to the development of grain exports between Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan.
Odessa’s new grain terminal complex will be completed in three phases. The first phase will allow for a grain storage capacity of 70 tonnes, which will increase to 241 tonnes when all of the facility’s 33 storage tanks are completed. The terminal will boast a quayside measuring 254 metres and a berth depth of 13.5 metres to accommodate Panamax class dry bulk carriers with a capacity of 60,000 dwt.
