Nokian Tyres, a part of the Nokia group, has announced that it will help to improve the stability of empty container handling equipment and fork lifts by offering two new sizes of its HTS G2 E-4 tyre.

According to the company, the combination of a steady flow of goods and materials with the improving efficiency of data-driven logistics has made fast and accurate container handling more important than ever.

For reach stackers, fork lifts and log stackers, stability is said to be a crucial factor in ensuring that operations are safe and efficient.

Tuomas Färlin, Business Line Director (OTR) at Nokian Tyres, said: “The higher you reach, the more stable foundation you need. The tyre stability has a direct effect on the safety and efficiency of your work.”

Nokian has emphasized that its HTS G2 series of port and terminal tyres have been designed with high stability and load-bearing capacity in mind, the solution benefitting from a shock-absorbing rubber compound used in the tyre carcass.

The new tyres will be available from June 2019 in sizes 14.00-24 and 16.00-25, and can delivered in one of two versions, a slick Nokian HTS G2 L-4S tyre or the Nokian HTS G2 E-4 tyre with wear-resistant tread.

Färlin added: “The new tyre sizes are selected to complement the product family and extend it towards empty container handlers and terminal fork lifts.

“The same properties that have proven themselves useful in reach stacker use work well for these applications as well.”
