PTI recently spoke with Ottonel Popesco, CEO of Cavotec at TOC Europe 2015 in Rotterdam. Mr Popesco highlighted how the size of ships is increasing and with that comes many logistical, operational, and environmental problems.
As the efficiency of ports and harbours is challenged by the increasing size of mega-ships, Popesco suggests that the industry needs to come up with more new and innovative ideas; believing that automation is going to help the future of the industry in cutting down waiting times at ports from three days down to one, thereby improving overall profitability.
